BaTTerra International Drum and Percussion Festival

 

1. Overview

 

1.1. The BaTTerra International Drum and Percussion Festival (hereinafter referred to as the Festival) is a non-profit event, organized by the Artcord Public Association.

1.2. The official website of the Festival is https://festival.md/ .

1.3. All funds accumulated from sponsorships and/or private organizations, funding from public institutions, sales revenues, participation quotas, as well as from other financing activities, are intended for the formation of the Festival's budget, to cover all related expenses and to accumulate funds for future editions.

1.4. The festival has several component parts, each with a specific regulation, described below.

 

 

2. Festival components:

 

2.1. Contest of young drummers/percussionists;

2.2. Masterclasses for dedicated pupils/students/musicians;

2.3. Presentations of products, techniques, innovative ways of teaching, exhibitions-sales, other types of participation/involvement;

2.4. Concert-shows for the general public.

 


 

3. Rules of participation in the BaTTerrist Young Drummers Contest:

 

3.1. Registration in the contest is made at the email addresses mentioned on the Contacts page through a message with the subject "BaTTerrist".

3.2. In order to facilitate the organization of the contest, the name and age are preferred in the text of the message.

3.3. The contest of young drummers/percussionists is divided based on a skill category and three age categories:

3.3.1. absolute beginners category with no age limit,

3.3.2. three groups of intermediate and/or advanced drummers up to 12 years old, 13-18 years old, over 18 years old.

3.4. The following performances are assessed and scored:

3.4.1. Musical interpretation with emphasis on finding and evolving in the musical context, dynamics, vocabulary and interaction with the scores of the other instruments;

3.4.2. The technique of handling the instrument, the ability to improvise, evolve with solos;

3.4.3. Artistism, behavior and stage appearance, showmanship.

3.5. The performances listed above are counted by a jury of at least 3 people, composed of performance artists in the field, well-known musicians from the country or abroad, teachers in the related field, members of the Artcord association.

3.6. If the student(s) of one of the jury members participates in the competition, that member will refrain from counting his student. In order not to affect the final score of these participants, they will be given an arithmetic average score for each category.

3.7. The score will be offered in the range from 1 to 10 points for each type of performance.

3.8. The final score will be the total sum of the points offered by all the members of the jury cumulated for each contestant.

3.9. For each age category, prizes are awarded for the first three places occupied based on the accumulated score and mentions for the first five places.

3.10. The results of the competition will be announced immediately after counting the accumulated scores with the presentation of each jury member on the justification of awarding grades up to 4 points or from 9 to 10 points, in order to highlight the shortcomings or exemplary performances, as pedagogical motivation.

3.11. The occupants of the 1st and 2nd places of the three groups of intermediate/advanced drummers, for each age category, will be granted the opportunity to participate in the concerts of the festival in the following order:

3.11.1. the occupants of the 2nd seats - on the first day of the concert;

3.11.2. Occupants of the 1st seats - on the second day of the concert.

3.12. The laureates of the group of beginners without age limit will not have the opportunity to perform in the concert part, taking into account their technical limitation, but they will be invited on stage to receive prizes, diplomas, mentions.

3.13. At the end of the festival, the winners will be handed the prizes on the main stage by the president of the jury and the sponsors' representatives.

3.14. Teachers and/or schools whose students took the first three places in each category will receive performance diplomas from the festival.

3.15. In order to cover the expenses related to the contest of young drummers, a participation fee will be charged:

3.15.1. The participation fee in the contest is 500 MDL.

3.15.2. Children from socially vulnerable families do not pay the participation fee.

3.16. In order to participate in the category of socially vulnerable family member, the participant in the contest, or his/her legal representative, in the case of minors, needs to fill in a declaration on their own responsibility where they will mention the basis of their qualification as a Socially Vulnerable Family.

3.17. The qualification of Contestant from a Socially Vulnerable Family will be awarded to children who are orphans of parents, from boarding schools and/or children's homes, to those from incomplete families with incomes below the average for the economy of the Republic of Moldova, to students who do not benefit from the financial support of their parents and/or have a scholarship lower than the average income on the economy.

3.18. Registration in the contest can be organized by the Organizing Committee and by other methods, communicated on the https://festival.md/ website and social networks.

 

 

4. Rules of participation as a Masterclass artist-performer

 

4.1. In order to participate in the Festival with a Masterclass, it is necessary to contact the Organizing Committee with an offer, a technical rider, other requirements of any kind.

4.2. The contacts of the organizing committee can be found on the Festival's website at the Contacts page https://festival.md/pages/contacts

4.3. The Masterclass offer can be presented through a brief description, media materials, with the attachment of technical riders, requests for fees, requests for compensation of expenses, sent electronically to the electronic addresses mentioned on the page Contacts https://festival.md/pages/contacts

4.4. Technical riders, requests for fees and requests for compensation of expenses will be submitted only in written form on physical support or in electronic format with their signature by the bidding party.

4.5. The Organizing Committee can come up with its own proposals for artists-performers of the Masterclasses, including from among the invited headliners.

4.6. The acceptance or rejection of offers for Masterclasses is made exclusively by the Organizing Committee of the Festival with the subsequent approval of the management of AO Artcord.

 

 

5. Regulation on participation with presentations of products, techniques, innovative ways of teaching, exhibitions-sales, other types of participation and/or involvement

 

5.1. The BaTTerra Festival encourages the participation of any entities that bring added value to the event and promotes any type of activities related to the musical field, especially the field of percussion/drumming arts.

5.2. The Organizing Committee welcomes and facilitates any form of participation.

5.3. The Organizing Committee makes the maximum possible effort to support the smooth running of the proposed activities within the limits of existing possibilities.

5.4. Any requested support must be strictly coordinated with the Organizing Committee.

5.5. Priority for participation in the given category will be given to entities that come with sponsorships for the BaTTerra festival, but will not be strictly limited by this support.

5.6. Sponsorships may have any form agreed by the participating entity and the Organizing Committee.

5.7. In order to participate with activities in this category, it is necessary to contact the Organizing Committee through any available form.

5.8. Contacts can be found on the Festival's website at the Contacts page https://festival.md/pages/contacts.

 

 

6. Regulation regarding participation in concert-show programs

6.1. In the concert programs of the Festival there are 3 categories of musicians / bands / performers:

6.1.1. Winners of the contest of young drummers/percussionists who occupied the 1st and 2nd places in each age/performance group;

6.1.2. Bands/artists/performers who come with an artistic offer sent to the email addresses mentioned on the Contacts page https://festival.md/pages/contacts and are accepted for participation by the Organizing Committee;

6.1.3. Headliners from abroad, special guests and local artists invited by the Organizing Committee.

6.2. The winners of the contest of young drummers/percussionists who occupied the 1st and 2nd places in each age/performance group are automatically included in the concert program, according to the following formula:

6.2.1. the occupants of the 2nd places – at the concert on the first day of the festival,

6.2.2. Occupants of the 1st places – at the concert on the second day of the festival.

6.3. The placement of these contestants in the stage schedule is totally at the discretion of the Organizing Committee.

6.4. The contestants or their legal representatives cannot dictate the time or placement of the performance, but they may amicably request changes in the performance placement at least 10 days before the festival with the motivation of these requests.

6.5. Requests for amendments may be considered or disregarded. Priority will be given in cases where applicants come up with proposals for sponsorship of the festival, but do not guarantee their mandatory acceptance.

6.6. The winners of the contest undertake to participate in the concert program based on the above.

6.7. Refusal to participate may lead to the disqualification of the contestant without the possibility of recovering the participation fee.

6.8. For the participation of bands/artists/performers, it is necessary to submit the participation offer.

6.9. The offer to participate may include a brief description, media demos, other types of presentation, sent to the contacts mentioned at https://festival.md/pages/contacts.

6.10. The offer can be in the format of an artistic show number, an individual program with backing tracks, a live performance program of musical bands, other types of stage performance.

6.11. Participation offers may be in the form of original compositions, covers, acting versions or covers. The first two categories are encouraged and given priority.

6.12. The acceptance or non-acceptance of offers is made exclusively by the Organizing Committee.

6.13. The organizing committee, in its decisions, takes into account the public's preferences, the artistic value and variety of the offer, but also the support of the offer by the festival sponsors.

6.14. Each artistic offer must be accompanied by the technical requirements of the artists/bands/performers, which will be submitted in electronic format to the Organizing Committee.

6.15. Each accepted participant will benefit from a cash prize in the amount of up to 2000 MDL or a voucher for the purchase of goods in music stores, at the participant's choice. Monetary prizes are subject to taxation and taxation according to the legislation of the Republic of Moldova.

6.16. The decision to award these prizes is entirely at the discretion of the Organizing Committee, but will take into account the opinion of the festival sponsors, if these sponsorships are specific for offering prizes to participants.

6.17. In addition to the monetary prizes, the participants of the Festival will receive diplomas and mentions.

6.18. The placement of each artist/band/performer accepted in the Festival program is totally at the discretion of the Organizing Committee and cannot be subject to influence by the participants.

6.19. Requests for adjustment, motivated, of the placement of the evolution can be accepted amicably by the Organizing Committee with no less than 10 days until the festival.

6.20. Priority will be given to adjustment requests supported by the Festival sponsors.

6.21. The stage time granted to each participant in the concerts is strictly delimited by the Organizing Committee and is totally at its discretion. It will be announced and coordinated with the bidder at the time of acceptance, but it can be adjusted unidirectionally by the Organizing Committee along the way.

6.22. The participants accepted from the above categories will not be able to request soundcheck time, but will benefit from the assistance of the technical staff during the evolution within the limit of 5 minutes of linecheck.

6.23. Requests for stage lighting, special effects, etc., will be discussed with the Organizing Committee and will be facilitated to the maximum within the limits of the existing technical and logistical possibilities.

6.24. The Organizing Committee does not offer compensation for expenses to the first category of participants (winners of the contest of young drummers/percussionists).

6.25. The Organizing Committee does not offer expense compensation to the second category of participants, except for expenses directly compensated by the festival sponsors, or by the sponsors of the artist/band/performers.

6.26. The Organizing Committee cannot be obliged to disclose any data regarding the offering of prizes, compensation of expenses, sponsorships to the public, except for the statute of the organizing Association and the legislation in force.

6.27. Headliners from abroad, special guests and local artists invited by the Organizing Committee are subject exclusively to the discreet decisions of the Organizing Committee.

6.28. The invitation and acceptance of the headliners in the Festival program can be made with the consultation of the funders/sponsors and/or partners of the festival, but it is not mandatory.

6.29. The offering of fees, compensation of expenses, meeting of technical requirements, hosting of participants in the last category is made exclusively at the decision of the Organizing Committee within the limit of the available budget, but they can be modified post-event from the income obtained or from the financing/sponsorship offers, specially intended for these purposes.
